Understanding Basic System Concepts and Components

One important aspect of creating an ICM system is helping all stakeholders and team members develop a common understanding of the system's basic concepts and components. Through stakeholder meetings and discussions, the Connected Corridors team presented the following elements in a high-level, non-technical way:

  • The overall data flow process of an ICM system
  • The central role of a Decision Support System (DSS)

Note that the presentations do not describe the actual design of system components or architecture, which is developed at a later stage of the project. They are meant simply to introduce, conceptually, the essential workings of an ICM system.
